‘Step Back’

An artist was attempting to paint art on a big scale – so very different from the usual canvases she used.

At first – she found it hard to anticipate what the outcome would be – how the final piece of art would look.

But then – it was suggested that she step back from time to time – thus allowing her to see that whole concept – that she had in mind – following the advise given in this quote – “It’s hard to see things when you’re too close – take a step back – and look”.

I thought – how true this often is in life – when I can find myself too close to a situation – that I cannot anticipate – or even sometimes imagine – what the finished outcome will be.

It’s important sometimes – to step back – to look at things from a different perspective – allowing myself to see things with a greater awareness – a clearer vision – and keep my heart and mind open.

I can so easily get confused by a situation – be so immersed with my own thoughts and feelings – that I lose sight of the bigger picture – the end result.

I like the advise in this quote – “Dispel confusion by stepping away from your own mental dialogue – think about the end result that you want – let the vision of that result guide you to clarity.”

My thoughts of the moment – my close up view as it were – can narrow my vision – and when that happens – I do need to take that step back – and allow those restriction to slip away – allowing me to focus on what I truly want to achieve in my life.

Every situation in life will always have a bigger picture – and a greater purpose – but if I want to see that – it does mean that I have to be willing to take that step back.

This quote puts it well for me – “Sometimes you’ve got to step back – to see the whole picture. There will be times when progress feels messy – when every step forward seems tangled. That’s when you know it’s time to step back – to rise above – get that ariel view – and see things for what thy really are”

I’m still learning – to take that step back – to move away from what is immediately in front of me – and all the emotions that can evoke within me.

Much as an artist would step back – to view the picture they are painting – by stepping away – I find I can pause – and refocus – reminding myself of the main goal and purpose of my life –
