I am definitely – ‘an early bird’ – and not – ‘a night owl’ – and I have to say that I am finding that a great advantage – during this very hot weather.

I am loving being out in the garden – in that early morning freshness – watering my plants – and listening to the songs of the birds.

Just now – it’s not a case of – ‘the early bird – catching the worm’ – but rather of – ‘the early bird – beating the heat’.

But for me – even when it’s cooler – I do love to make an early start – and to follow this advice – “Wake up early and tackle the day – before it tackles you”.

I find I have more energy first thing – and so I take advantage of that – thereby getting ahead – early on in the day.

I like the way it’s put here – “Wake up early – it’s great to live the mornings” – and that is something that appeals to me – and that I love to do,

Of course – there are many who are the opposite – who are – ‘night owls’ – and that is fine.

I love the fact that we are all different – and for me – that should never be a problem.

But having said that – I have not always been totally accepting of ‘night owls’ – getting frustrated at their reluctance to embrace the early mornings.

I like to think that I have become more tolerant – and gracious – as I have got older – recognising that everyone needs to go at their own pace – and tackle life – as they choose.

For me – I guess – tolerance is something that I have come to understand more and more – and something I am learning to cultivate.

Accepting others more readily and openly – in all aspects of their lives – without seeking to persuade them otherwise – or change them.

This quote puts it well for me – “Tolerance – is the positive and cordial effort – to understand another’s beliefs – practices – and habits – without necessarily sharing – or accepting them”.

And so – as I carry on enjoying being – ‘an early bird’ – I seek to be mindful of the – ‘night owls’ – and seek to focus on respecting – and accepting – all the differences – that make people so wonderfully unique.
