‘Delays On The Journey’

And so – I began my journey – yet – not quite as I had imagined – I had plans in place – people to see – places to go – then suddenly -things changed.

Covid had arrived at our house! Thankfully no one was having any serious problems – and I myself was in the clear – but this did have a knock on effect – as those I had arranged to meet up with were vulnerable – and so plans were delayed.

I love this quote that says “Delays are just the beginning of grand adventures” – and that is how I choose to see them – just a part of the beginning of my journey – to new ideas and opportunities – of making new connections.

This has certainly not put a stop to my journey – simply made me change my plans – as someone once said – “If the plan doesn’t work – change the plan – but never the goal” – my plan for the week hadn’t worked – but the goal was the same – so dates were re-arranged and alternatives put in place for the days ahead.

Out came pen and paper – or rather I looked out some of the watercolour cards I had made in the past – and wrote a few short notes – to those I had not been in touch with for a while – seeking to make the most of the time that I had planned to be ‘out and about.

I guess I could quite easily have allowed myself to feel frustrated – even stressed – at my plans being interrupted – so I had to choose – to “Adopt the right attitude – and in so doing – convert the negative stress into a positive one”

I wasn’t about to “let a stumble on the road be the end of the journey”-but rather a chance to see the reality of life – which can be so unpredictable – to experience again the opportunity to adapt – to accept – to change my plans – to use my imagination – and to keep moving forward.

Blessings – Lois
