It’s such a blessing to meet so many wonderful volunteers – I meet them weekly – work alongside them – see them daily – as they give of their time – their skills – their gifts – so unstintingly – so graciously – so joyously – and in so doing bless many on the way.
Not only have I had – and still have – the privilege of working with such wonderful people – but have myself benefitted from their skills and gifts – and my heart is full.
In this world where there is so much focus on self- gratification – it’s awesome to realise that there are in fact so many selfless people – who volunteer in all sorts of ways – simply to bless and give to others – not for any gain of their own.
Christ said that it’s better to give than to receive – and I – alongside millions of others – can say that this is so true – as we give and bless others the rewards of doing so are felt deep within our spirits.
Volunteers don’t look for rewards for their efforts – but today – I want to applaud them – each one – many known to me – but many thousands more unknown.
I cannot reward you – but I can thank you from the bottom of my heart – and I can call down a blessing on you – that as you give of yourself – you will experience an overflowing of the grace and blessing of God.
This is a favourite prayer of mine – and I pray it over you today – ‘The Lord bless you and keep you – the Lord make His face to shine on you and be gracious to you – the Lord lift up His face toward you and give you peace’ – whoever you are – wherever you are – be blessed – and thank you.
