So often at this time of year – our thoughts turn to speculation – as to what the coming year may have in store for us. Looking back over the past year – and possibly even the past few years – we hope for better things.

Plans are often made – resolutions put into place – as we anticipate what the journey of life may have in store – and that of course is something that we have little control over – we simply travel where life’s road takes us – and – as this quote says –

“Life is a journey that must be travelled – no matter how bad the roads and accommodations”

This Christmas I received a note of great wisdom and encouragement – and asked permission to share this – here in my blog.

Here it is –

“We are all discovering how this journey we call life – is far from simple. We can make all our plans – and have the road ahead of us mapped out. We think we know each path that we will take – and even anticipate each likely turn in the road. We have the destination in view – and set our faces in that direction – and then –

a road closed – an irreparable breakdown – a flood – an earthquake – a stop! – the end of the road – – –

Yes – if that’s the way one chooses to see it – but for those who have eyes to see – it is more – it is bigger – it is greater – it is broader – and higher – and further –

I am glad this is what you see.

And as 2022 gives way to 2023 – I am excited to hear what else comes into view for you – and what more you will discover – as you continue this adventure of life”

My journey of life has certainly not been predictable – it’s been hard – particularly over the past few years – and yet – it has led me further on my journey – caused me to recognise – that – “If you change the way you look at things – the things you look at change” and – even as I get older – there are many new discoveries to make – new paths to travel.

I am learning – to follow my heart – to follow my soul – to be braver – more honest – more open – to new things – and it’s exciting.

And so – I step out – into the unknown – trusting my soul knows the way – and approaching each bend in the road with anticipation and hope – trusting in the One who has guided me so far.

My prayer is – that we will all be open to new discoveries – as this next year unfolds – and that wherever our journeys take us – we will be open to see – that there is always more. Blessings – Lois
