Sitting down to write my blog post each week is not always easy – and the thought does occur to me from time to time – that maybe – I should miss a week.

The motivation – and the inspiration – is sometimes hard to come by.
But there is a big truth in this quote – “You won’t always be motivated – so you must learn to be disciplined”.
Discipline can sound an unwelcome word – it can conjure up discomfort – and be something that I want to avoid – but that feeling can pass – as put here –

“In the moment – discipline feels uncomfortable – your mind looks for shortcuts – excuses – and delays – but that feeling passes quickly”.
And I have to say that I have found that so true.
I love writing my blog each week – and appreciate the fact that – if I had not disciplined myself to do so – I would lose the joy and satisfaction that it brings me – and hopefully to others too.

They say that – “Motivation gets you going – but discipline keeps you growing” – and I see that in writing this blog.
I was motivated to begin over eight years ago – and I know that the practice of writing has helped me to grow – certainly in building up confidence in myself.
It’s said that – “You don’t have to be perfect – you just have to be consistent” – and that’s what I have tried to be.
Acknowledging the truth of this quote –
“Motivation is a spark – it gets you started – but discipline is the fire – it keeps you going when the spark dies.

There will be days you don’t feel inspired – days you question why you started – days you’d rather quit than continue.
That’s when discipline takes over – it’s not about feeling ready – it’s about showing up anyway.
Success doesn’t belong to the most motivated – it belongs to the most consistent”.
And of course – this is true in so many areas of my life – and a truth I need to remember – and apply – especially in those times when I don’t feel inspired – or I’d rather give in.
So – I embrace – ‘discipline’ – understanding it’s worth – as I continue on life’s path.
Blessings – Lois
