‘Recapturing The Wonder’

This week – on seeing a beautiful video of a friend’s new grandchild – I found myself filled with fresh wonder – at this miracle of new life.

There is something that pulls on my heartstrings – when witnessing this amazing event – of new life – and somehow – it never ceases to make an impact.

As someone put it here – “A new baby is like the beginning of all things – wonder – hope – a dream of possibilities”.

I love that thought – because it reminds me – that life always holds those things.

Wonder – hope – and a dream of possibilities – are always there – if only I remember to look for them – for – “We must always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder”.

It’s so easy for me to miss those things – in the business of life – and the swift passing of my days.

I need to remember those things that used to nourish my heart – the things that caused wonder to rise – the smallest things – that seemed to be so big.

I never want to lose that sense of wonder – and love how this quote puts it – “Don’t walk away from the child within you – and never abandon the sense of wonder – that magnifies the smallest of things into mountains of joy. For one day – when you lose sight of happiness – that child within you can guide you back – to the things that once nourished your heart”

It encourages me to know that – ‘the child within me’ – doesn’t forget – those moments of wonder – and I want to nurture that within me – to always look for the wonder – even in the smallest things – and see them magnified – into mountains of joy.

For – someone once said that – “There is little doubt – that those who get the most from life – are those who look for wonder – in even the smallest things they do. Cultivate this skill – and you’ll find peace and satisfaction as well”.

And so – I am grateful – for the sense of wonder stirred within me this week – a reminder to me – to recapture the wonder – even in the smallest things – as I journey day by day – and to – “Keep my childlike wonder and enthusiasm alive – for even the smallest pleasures – and stay young within forever”.

Blessings – Lois
