‘Those Bursts Of Sunshine’

So many days recently – have been cold and dismal – the sky hanging like a dull grey blanket – yet – there have been those moments – when the sun has broken through. Maybe it’s only been for a very short time – yet – has allowed me to see a transformed landscape – bathed for a while in gold.

It’s amazing how just that glimpse of the sun makes me feel – “A single sunbeam – is enough to drive away many shadows” – and it fills me with joy.

It seems to change – even the landscape of my day – lifting my spirits – filling me with sparks of hope and energy – chasing away the gloom – and frustration – that so often accompany these winter days.

I came across this poem – which describes how I feel – as I glimpse that sunlight –

“Striated clouds interleave with denser drifts of shadowed dark stratocumulus – yet there are gaps ever-widening – skeins of bright blueness where the thready strands part – and I ponder at the way my heart lifts with just a glimpse of sunlight – of wonder – it is enough to help instigate hope – relieve sadness – and stimulate my soul.”

And – I pondered on how – those bursts of sunshine make my day – even impact my life. – and can make even the darkest day burst with light.

I recalled reading – where someone once said – “A compliment is verbal sunshine” – and I recognised – that I can actually make a difference in someone’s life – simply by – ‘shining through’ – ‘reaching out’ – with a kind word.

To quote here – “A little spark of kindness – can put a colossal burst of sunshine – into someone’s life”.

I never know when someone may be feeling – ‘heavy’ – when their sky seems ‘grey’ – and they long for the ‘sun’ to shine through.

Maybe – I can ‘burst through’ – brighten their day – and lift their spirits.

It only takes that – ‘little spark’ – to make all the difference.

Blessings – Lois
