‘The Work No One Sees’

A friend of ours is busy renovating his house – knocking down walls – re-wiring – plumbing – renewing broken tiles etc. In fact – any job that you can envisage – when tackling such a job as he is doing. He is a man who can turn his hand to anything – and always has a project in mind – even when he is in the middle of a job at the time.

Some of the work however – is more rewarding than others – for – like all of us I guess – we love to be able to see instant results – and for others to see those results too. After a day spent re-wiring – he was ready to move on – to a job that would allow him – to show all that ‘hidden work’ had accomplished.

For – so often – “It’s the work that no one sees – that produces the results – that every one wants” – and of course – in so many instances – we only see the results – and don’t see the thousands of hours of hard work.

As our friend has kept us updated – with photos of the work he has been doing – it made me realise – that so much of that work will remain hidden – as the beauty of the finished project – is revealed. As we all know – “A lot of hard work – is hidden behind nice things”

I know that – when this renovation is complete – there will be great satisfaction gained – from all he achieved.

I can identify with that – for – even though on a very different level – I feel that same sense of achievement – where gardening is concerned. So much effort goes into producing – and maintaining all those plants and flowers – much of it unseen by those that enjoy the end result – but – well worth the work from my point of view.

To quote – “The harder you work for something – the greater you’ll feel – when you achieve it”

In life – as I come across the result of someone else’s hard work – I realise that I will never know who performed all the work – that went into achieving that end result – that I enjoy.

I love this quote – and find it so inspiring – “The noblest service – comes from nameless hands – and the best servant – does his work unseen”.

I love to be busy – and actually don’t mind doing the unseen work but – I am finding it more difficult – with my aging body – to tackle some of the jobs that I used to be able to do with ease – and as I thought about this – I came across this quote – which really made me smile – “Hard work – keeps the wrinkles out of the mind – and spirit”. And – as much as I agree with the sentiment here – I would love it – if it was true of the body also!

Blessings – Lois

Lois I love this blog post, I have been having a rough week at work and this cheered me up and also made me realise that some things are worth fighting for. I work with Kindys and Preprimary kids some quite traumatised backgrounds and this post made me think deeply that there is alot others do not see of my work.
    Thanks Kylie 😍
