I find it interesting – that the origins of so many of our Christmas traditions – have derived from pagan celebrations – many of them connected to the celebration of the winter solstice.
Over the centuries – many traditions have formed – making Christmas a multifaceted celebration – that goes beyond religious observance – as it embraces the diverse culteral traditions that enrich this holiday season.

What I find fascinating – is that there is so much common ground – that seems to weave it all together – as though time itself is transcended – and – “Christmas is the day – that holds all time together”
It seems that – Christmas truly encapsulates the spirit of giving – gratitude – and celebration on a global scale – however it is celebrated.
For me – the actual way I celebrate today may differ from how it was years ago. This is – for many others too I guess – inevitable – due to changed circumstances – and for me – more personal reflections – surrounding the values of love – compassion and unity – for all – whatever their belief system might be.

I love to embrace this season – as an opportunity of reflection – even amidst all the joyful celebrations – for – “Christmas is a season – not only of rejoicing – but of reflection”
Looking back across the years – I am thankful for the traditions that so many have made a part of my life for me – weaving them into the tapestry – that grows as the years pass by – enriching my life with diversity and colour.
My reflections also fill me with hope – as we continue to create cherished memories – exchanging gifts – and sharing meals – with so much thankfulness in our hearts.

I love this ‘blessing’ – and it’s one that rings so true for me – as I pass it on.
“May the light of this season fill your heart with joy – your days with gratitude – and your spirit with hope – reminding us all – that the greatest gift we can give – is love”
Blessings – Lois
