‘Renewal’

These past few weeks seem to have been – almost a constant round of renewals. First there was the microwave – then the clothes dryer – quickly followed by the washer. In addition to these – I have just completed quite a complicated form – in order to renew my bus pass.

Thinking about how often in life – we do come up against the need for renewals – in one form or another – reminded me that I should never forget – the need to renew myself – from time to time.

“Renewing – requires opening yourself up – to new ways of thinking and feeling” – of changing – and improving – and even to be willing to let some things go.

It’s certainly something that I have become more aware of – over the last few years – especially in the more spiritual sense – and I love the challenge it presents. Rather than simply allowing my life to slip by – I want to constantly explore – to move forward – and hopefully become a better person.

Someone put it this way – “Spiritual self- renewal – means relinquishing your old limited identity – and becoming something more expanded – powerful – and closer to your true self”

I love the thought that – even as I relinquish a part of who I have been – in order for renewal to take place – at the same time – I gain so much – become ‘newer’ – and allow my true self to be seen.

Nature has always been important to me – and teaches me so much. This quote sums it up for me –

“Nature often holds up a mirror – so we can see more clearly the ongoing processes of growth – renewal – and transformation – in our lives”.

Nature is amazing – in the way it continues in it’s cycle of renewal – as the old is cast off – and all is renewed.

Even in the midst of winter – that renewal is taking place – and – I’m always inspired as Spring approaches – for – “Spring is a time of awakening and renewal – when nature shakes off it’s winter slumber – and bursts into bloom”.

And so as I look forward to that wonderful season – I too begin once again – to shake off my – ‘winter slumber’ – and prepare to open myself up – for even more renewal in my life.

Blessings – Lois
