‘A Positive Attitude’

It’s been interesting this week – to note that I have come across the same quote more than once – and so I thought it was worth giving some thought to it.

The quote is as follows –

“Life is ten percent what happens to you – and ninety percent how you react to it”

I know I have heard it before – but it made me pause again – to consider – just how much more thought I maybe give – to the things that happen in life – rather than considering my reactions to them.

It’s actually rather a sobering thought – that there is such a big difference in those percentages – which seems to suggest that I am very responsible – for my life. And that – instead of blaming what is happening in life – I need to look more closely – at my reactions to life.

I do find it true – that my attitude really does make a difference – and in turn – that determines the quality of my life.

I like these thoughts – further expressed on this theme –

“Our lives are not determined by what happens to us – but how we react to what happens. Not by what life brings to us – but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts – events – and outcomes. It is a catalyst – a spark – that creates extraordinary results”

I have made many choices of course – that have impacted my life – but even then – I have had no control over the things that have happened.

But – I know that how I have reacted to life – with all it’s ups and downs – has played a big part in the quality of my life – both in the past – and even today.

As quoted here – “Waking up everyday – with the right attitude – makes all the difference. It’s not what life brings to you – it’s the attitude you choose – to bring to life”.

Someone once said that – “In one minute you can change your attitude – and in that minute – you can change your entire day” – there’s a sense in which I can control how my day goes – simply by the attitude I choose to adopt.

It all sounds so simple – but – it’s not always easy to do. Although I have found that the more I seek to concentrate on my attitude – the easier it becomes.

I agree that – “Attitude is a little thing – that makes a big difference” – and so I remind myself each day – to keep my attitude positive – and to remember that – it’s not what life brings to me – so much as – the attitude I choose to bring to my life.
