Looking through my window this morning – I was struck with a sudden realisation that – there is a difference between simply ‘looking’ – and truly ‘seeing’.
How true this quote is – “Eyes that look – are common – – eyes that see – are rare”.
I can simply – ‘look’ out of my window – or – ‘ look’ around me as I walk – yet – what I – ‘see’ – can be very different.

It’s as though I need to pay attention – to ‘choose’ to truly see.
To ‘see’ – beyond – to take in more detail – for – “merely looking at the world around us – is immensely different – from seeing it”.
I can miss so much – by not paying attention – and so miss truly ‘seeing’.

I can look through my window – across the field at the tree – yet fail to see it’s shape – to appreciate just how much beauty it adds – to the scene before me.
I guess – as someone said – “The question is not what you look at – but what you see” – and – “What we see – depends mainly on what we look for”.
It’s so easy to just look at the ‘obvious’ – and at times even almost dismiss what I am looking at – not giving it another thought – simply because I am not attuning myself – to see the good – to see the beauty.

I like this quote – “Everything has beauty – but not everyone sees it “ – reminding me – that – it’s up to me – to find it – to see it.
It makes me wonder too – when I ‘look’ at others – do I really ‘see’ them – or am I merely ‘looking‘ at them – and missing truly ‘seeing’ them.

I want to more consciously use my eyes to see – instead of just looking – and echo the words here – “Imagine – you could open your eyes to see only the good in every person – the positive in every circumstance – and the opportunity in every challenge”.
Seeing – not just with my natural eyes – but also – with the eyes of my soul.

For – ” When you see the world through the eyes of your soul – you witness the greatness of all people – and you love and respect them “.
In the end – it really does depend on me- making that conscious effort – to look beyond – and truly see.
Blessings – Lois
