‘When The Sun Shines’

Today – I found myself walking in glorious sunshine – which was very welcome after a few darker days.

As I walked – I realised just what a difference the sun makes – as to how I feel- as my spirit rose and my soul sang.

I continued to think about this – as I walked – and find it so interesting how different that ray of sunshine can make me feel – even when I am not feeling my best – maybe feeling tired – or even in pain – that glimpse of the sun really does brighten my day – or as someone said – “A single sunbeam – is enough to drive away many shadows”.

And – it’s not just – that the sun – ‘drives away those shadows’ – for I can sense the energy flooding through me too – making me recognise how important it is – to soak in that sun – whenever I have the chance.

A quote that I found – summed it up in this way – “Let your soul soak up the sun – for in it’s warmth – you’ll find the energy – to bloom – and grow”.

And I did feel energised – and more equipped somehow – not only to ‘tackle my day’ – but to bloom and grow.

The thought occurred to me – as I continued on my walk – how – to quote – “smiles are like little rays of sunshine – that brighten lives” – or – maybe better put – “What sunshine is to flowers – smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles – to be sure – but scattered along life’s pathway – the good they do is inconceivable”.

I love that – and find it quite a sobering thought in a way – that just a simple smile can do good to someone – maybe by bringing that – ‘ray of sunshine’ into their life.

It causes me to pause – and think – about how often do I deliberately pass on a smile – for I know myself – that I feel a response when someone offers a smile to me – it really does make a difference – as the saying goes – “Smile and the world smiles with you”.

I guess that is true – and – maybe I need to heed the advice given here – “Today – give a stranger one of your smiles – it might be the only sunshine he sees all day”.

And – I will seek to remember – whenever I see that sunshine – that as it makes a difference to me – my smile – could just make a difference to someone – and bring the ‘sunshine’ into their life too.

Blessings – Lois
