‘Seeing The Big Picture’

This week I have managed to finish one of the hardest jigsaw puzzles that I have ever done. It was sent to me by a friend around Christmas time – and was what is called a – ‘mystery jigsaw thriller – with a secret puzzle image.

In the past – I have put together puzzles that require me to work almost ‘blind’ – as the picture I am creating differs from the picture on the box.

However – this one came with a short story attached – and a mystery to solve – by looking at the clues that appeared in the finished picture I needed to create.

As I worked – I have to admit that I couldn’t see what those clues were – but – on completion – I found that – by standing away from the picture – everything became clearer – and I was able to solve the mystery.

I immediately drew a comparison between this – and how I often can look at life – for – in life – “sometimes you need to take a step back – and look at the big picture”

At times – I am so focused on the details in front of me – that I can fail to see the bigger picture.

Looking back – I can see that there have been those times – when I have been so focused on the pattern of my life – almost like spending all my time seeking to find the next piece of the puzzle – yet not being able to see beyond a small part of the whole – not taking that time – to step back.

But – as I have learnt to – ‘step back’ – I have found that it gives me another perspective – as this quote puts it – “Step back and observe your life with a greater awareness – a clear vision – an open mind – and an open heart”.

And – that is what I seek to do – to be more aware of that bigger picture – and to keep an open mind – and an open heart.

I like how someone put it here – “In every situation – there is always a bigger picture – and a greater purpose – don’t miss it”.

So – I determine to remember – to step back from time to time -from the smaller details – the day to day happenings – in my life – in order to see that bigger picture – and so not miss – the greater purpose that awaits me.

Blessings – Lois
