‘The Richness Of Life’

This week – I have been celebrating my 80th birthday – and – as I have received so many messages – and declarations of love – I have been conscious of how full and rich my life has been – and – I breathe in that fulness.

For – as someone put it here – “My life has been a tapestry – of rich and royal hue – an everlasting vision – of the ever changing view”.

As I have journeyed through life – the landscape has changed many times – the view around me constantly evolving – bringing new experiences – new people – all adding to that richness.

I love the analogy of life – as a tapestry – and as I pondered this – I came across this poem –

“The tapestry of life – is woven of many fine threads – the stitches so carefully crafted – each stitch worthy of the next – each stitch able to stand alone – but – so much more beautiful – as part of the whole – together the stitches create a masterpiece – beautiful for the eyes to behold – enriching the senses in everyway – so it is with life – it is the small – mundane events – that give life it’s beauty – and the meaning of life – is found in the ordinary things – the key is the ability to find the beauty – and the richness – in the day to day – you can unlock the door – and live in the beauty – and splendour that is before you”

I find so much truth there – for – as a stitch is but a small part of the whole of that tapestry – so those many – everyday – ordinary – sometimes mundane things in life – make up the whole of my life’s experience – and add to it’s richness.

I am grateful for all those – ‘stitches’ – in my life – for all those everyday happenings – that add beauty – and meaning – to my life.

And so – as I ponder on the tapestry of my life – continuing to see those ‘threads’ – come together – I hope I too – can add to the richness of the lives of others.

I want my life to be meaningful – and as this quote puts it – “A meaningful life – is not about being rich – being popular – being highly educated – or being perfect – it is about being real – being strong – and being able to give ourselves – and touch the lives of others”.

And – as I touch the lives of others – I want to sow those stitches – add my thread – and be a part of the whole – woven together – with others – creating for them – a rich tapestry.

A tapestry- as described here – “Woven threads of colour – a beauty to behold – each thread – a chapter of a life – the tapestry unfolds – there within the richness – are tears of golden hue – while silver threads of laughter are gently woven through – hanging there in splendour – for all the world to see – the beauty of a life well spent – in richest tapestry”.

I am eager – as I enter another year – to see how the tapestry of my life unfolds – hopefully showing – ‘a life well spent’ – full of richness – and beauty.

Blessings – Lois
