‘Missing The Old – Loving The New’

I guess most of us – as we get older – think back to – ‘the good old days’ – as we fondly like to call them.

Days – when I guess – things were so much simpler – than they are today.

And yet – even though – “There’s a nostalgia – that comes with missing the life you used to have” – for me – it’s important that I embrace the new.

As some one here says – “I have moments – where I miss my old self – but I think anyone can get caught up in what we used to have – but at the same time – we can choose to focus on the beauty of the now”.

Much of what has changed in my life time – is of course – technology – but – rather than regret it’s advancement – I welcome it – and choose to focus on the positive impact that it can have.

I guess – like so many – especially over the last few years – I have learnt to appreciate the ease in which technology enables me to do so much – so quickly – such as booking events – travel – accommodation – not to mention the shopping – that I have to say makes life so much easier for me.

That does not mean to say that it does away with some of the ‘old ways’ of doing things – like browsing around the shops etc.

As this quote puts it – “Technology should improve your life – not become your life”. For me it has become a useful tool – in helping me to improve my life – yet – I have control over that use.

For – while there is a lot that can be harmful – “new technology is not good or evil – in or of itself – it’s all about how people choose to use it “.

As I look back over the years – I am astounded at the progress made – and gladly move forward with it.

I wish that I had been able to keep in touch with family and friends – with the ease that I can today. That is one of the most important things for me – and the biggest blessing that technology has given me – as this quote goes – “Technology is best when it brings people together”.

I find that – especially when we are apart – and love that we can share our days – record events as they happen – send those photos and videos – that help us to feel connected. Those are some of the advances that I appreciate the most – as I look back at the old – and appreciate the new.

Blessings – Lois
