‘Life Is All About Balance’

I have just spent an absolutely wonderful time with my friend in beautiful Scotland – enjoying long – lazy days – with nothing to think about – and no responsibilities. We walked – ate – drank – and of course talked – allowing ourselves to simply live in the moment.

On returning home – I flung myself back into everything – picking up where I had left off – and particularly when it came to the care of my plants – for gosh – how they had grown – and were now ready to be planted out. I was so excited – and so blessed by the wonderful weather we were enjoying – perfect for the jobs I wanted to get done.

I didn’t take into consideration the fact that I was going from almost one extreme to the next – from a very relaxed time – on all fronts – to very quickly – taking up my everyday responsibilities – and trying to fit in so much extra – and – on top of all that – I was a little ‘under the weather’ physically too.

I needed to pause – for this quote is so true – ” Life is all about balance – you don’t always need to be getting stuff done – sometimes it’s perfectly okay – and absolutely necessary – to shut down – kick back – and do nothing”. A balance is what I needed to bring back into my life – to slow down – and not – as I am wont to do – try to do it all at once – almost without taking a breath.

Someone said that – “Balance is not something that you find – it’s something you create” – and I find that so true – it really is up to me – to get that balance right.

Like so many things in life – it is a choice one that I have to make – learning to pause – assess – and often adjust the pace of life for myself.

I guess there’s a sense in which my body has helped me to make that choice this week – to pause – to recognise that I needed to create that ‘work / life’ balance.

And so even though I have so wanted to keep going – I have re-addressed the balance – listened to my body – and find that I am already feeling the benefits.

And so once again – life has taught me a lesson – one that I know to be so true – but also – one that I need to remember – learning to be wise for – “A wise woman – recognises when her life is out of balance – and summons the courage – to act to change it”

Blessings – Lois
