‘Walking Down The Country Road’

One of my favourite times of day is early morning – I love the peace and quiet – the stillness – that allows me to ready myself for whatever the day may have in store for me.

I am fortunate to live in a place where I can enjoy a walk in the countryside – and so take advantage of this each morning – strolling down the country roads – almost oblivious to the traffic that passes by – so taken up with the beauty that surrounds me.

For I find that – “A walk down a country road – is good for body – heart – and soul”.

I have quickly discovered that such a walk can be uplifting – whatever the weather – it’s the attitude of the mind and soul – that determines the amount of pleasure – the depth of inspiration – that each walk enriches me with.

Not only that – but in times of difficulty – or times of pressure – “sometimes this is all I need”.

There have been times – and still are times – in my life – when such walks are not possible – which for me – makes them all the more precious – and something to appreciate and take advantage of as often as I can.

For the past two weeks – I have been in that situation. Problems with one of my feet made it too painful to put on even my most comfortable walking shoes – and oh – how I missed those walks.

It was so hard not to feel frustrated by the situation – but I so agree with the following quote – “Don’t let what you can’t do – keep you from doing what you can” – and so that is what I sought to do.

It was – after all – only my foot – not the rest of my body! – and there was so much else I could do – I simply needed to adapt – and do things differently for a while – waiting for the day – when I could once again – enjoy those walks down the country lanes.

How pleased I was – when that day arrived. Off I set – with a song in my heart – and joy in my soul – all my senses open – to receive all that walking in nature had in store for me – knowing from experience that – “In every walk with nature – one receives far more than he seeks”
