‘Traditions’

This is the time of year when so many of us enjoy the traditions that have been a part of our lives for many years.

Of course -there are many traditions – around the world – in our own cultures -the traditions that we all grow up with – but then there are those ‘family traditions’ – some of which have passed down to us over the years – and those we have created ourselves.

I so agree with a quote I found pertaining to ‘family Christmas traditions’ – which said – “Family Christmas Traditions – create memories – not stress” – and of course that is so important. Our traditions should be made up of those things that are meaningful to us – that bring joy to all who become a part of them – and can be a great way of leaving those precious memories.

It can feel quite sad – when some of those traditions vanish from our lives – as the circumstances of our lives change – but at the same time – it’s inevitable – and we learn to adapt – and even make new traditions – that better suit the road we travel.

We also remember that – “The traditions we create today – will be the memories our children cherish in the future”

As I look back over the years – I have fond memories of the traditions that we created – remember with love and gratitude – those who made these traditions possible – many of whom are no longer with us.

And so – even though our traditions change – those memories actually become a part of all that we do – they continue on within our hearts – never losing value – always a reminder of precious times – and special people.

For – as someone once said – “Traditions remind us of where we came from – and help us carve out the path ahead” – often changing – evolving – and building on the traditions of our past – creating anew in our own special ways.

My heart is full – as I recall traditions of the past – continue with traditions that still stand the test of time – and have the opportunity to be a part of creating those new traditions – which in turn – will become precious memories.

Blessings – Lois
