This past week I found it necessary to give myself a day of rest.
This is really quite out of character for me – as everyone who knows me would tell you – I always push myself to keep going – even during those times when I know I should rest.
I had developed a bad cold – and felt really tired – and not well at all – so – I gave in.

Usually – as I sit to write my blog post – I seek inspiration from the past week – sharing my thoughts from life as it unfolds – and also the lessons I learn along the way. I also look for appropriate ‘quotes’ – that express those thoughts.
As I sat to compose this post – I came across some lovely cartoons – (of Snoopy) – which seemed to sum up my feelings from the past few days – and so I decided to include them – rather than simply quotes. – I love this one which says – “Really not feeling well – life cancelled”.

It’s not often that I don’t feel up to doing things – it’s in my nature to want to be busy – to have some ‘job’ – or ‘project’ -to be ‘on the go’ – but I recognised the other day that – as Snoopy says here – “I feel like putting an ‘out of order’ sticker on my head – and going back to bed” – and I have to say – I did feel better for doing so.
There are days when I do push myself – feeling that there is so much to do – and – yes – let’s face it – we can always look and see things that need doing – but – they are not all urgent – and could wait.

And so – I need – to take note of this next caption – “So much to do – no desire to do it” – and allow myself to wait – until I feel more like doing it – giving myself time to simply relax.
And – I have found – this not only applies to when my body is not well. There are times when – I simply just don’t have the desire to do certain things – to go certain places – and – I’m finding that it’s okay to allow myself to ‘take a break’ – and to say ‘no’ – as I seek to take care of my own well being.

I am learning – to know when to say ‘enough’ – and learning to take a rest – when I know my body needs it – and even to take a rest when I simply feel like doing so.
I do like to be busy – yes – doing the things I enjoy doing – but recognising my limitations – and knowing when to say- “That’s enough ‘todaying’ – for today – I’m done” – makes for a much more relaxed way of living -a freedom from unnecessary stress – and allows me to enjoy life at my own pace,
Blessings – Lois
