‘Anticipation’

I’ve had with me a sense of anticipation these past few days – with a longed for visit to spend time with a very dear friend – now being so near.

I am anticipating many walks – exploring the beautiful countryside where she lives – I’m looking forward to sitting around enjoying food and wine together – and – most precious of all – the meeting of our ‘kindred spirits’ – as we share those things so near to our hearts – with no fear of judgement – or criticism – simply an acceptance – and a warmth that brings with it.

I love that feeling of anticipation – and even the time of waiting – that accompanies it – and yet – even when those times that I have been anticipating have come and gone – I never feel particularly sad – because – the memory is left with me – as someone said – “Pleasure is found – first in anticipation – later – in memory” – and I love that.

However – I do realise it’s more often the ‘more special things’ that I look forward to – and anticipate – and I want to echo this sentiment – “Let me live in anticipation – of each and every opportunity – that is bound to come my way” – and as I do so – recognise just how important my attitude is – to even the more ‘usual’ occurrences – of every day.

For – I can –Either face the future with ‘apprehension’ – or with ‘anticipation’ – and there is a world of difference. I either look out with ‘hope’ each day – and walk forward with confidence – or – I allow ‘fear’ to hold me back – and steal my joy.

So – for me – I want to not only anticipate those ‘special times’ – but practice daily to – “Anticipate the positive – the happy – and the good – and eagerly look forward to them”.

Blessings – Lois
