This week – I have taken advantage of an opportunity that was presented to me – and I have travelled abroad – something that I hadn’t really anticipated doing again – I thought my travelling days were over.

However – to borrow a quote – “Life opens up opportunities to you – and you either take them – or you stay afraid of taking them”.
I could easily have allowed myself to be afraid – fearing how my body would survive all the travel involved – as normally a two hour car journey can be challenging for me. Then – quite severe hot temperatures were expected – and I was unsure – how that would also affect me.

But in spite of all this – I decided to take the opportunity – and – as someone else said – “Take every opportunity that comes your way – and most importantly – have fun with it”
For me – it wasn’t simply a case of overcoming my fears – or even of ‘coping’ with any discomfort I might experience – but rather the opportunity to have fun – and to create many precious memories.
As I have been thinking of this opportunity – that I have taken advantage of – it has also made me aware that – maybe in life – I do miss many more opportunities that present themselves to me every day – “Great opportunities may come once in a lifetime – but small opportunities surround us every day”

And so – I want to – as this quote says – “Be aware of the opportunities around you – don’t just go through the day – live the day – with your eyes – and your mind – open” – and in doing so -become more intentional – far more aware – that small opportunities are mine for the taking – if I can learn to recognise them.
I love it that as I return home – not only will I carry many wonderful memories – reflect on all that I have seen – and be so grateful for this wonderful opportunity that I have had – but I return with an expectation of encountering new possibilities in my day to day life – I intend to look out for them – and to be ready – to live them!
Blessings – Lois

I’m glad you took the opportunity and that you enjoyed it Lois.
