At last – those longed for – long days of summer have arrived – filling me with joy – causing me to slow down – wallow in the warmth of the sun’s rays – listen to the bird song – and while away the hours – in unaccustomed laziness.

I love this quote – “Deep Summer is when laziness finds respectability”

Those who know me well – know that I love to keep busy – not that I never sit and rest – but – after a short time – will be up and finding something to do.

However – at this moment – I am so enjoying – being lazy – of soaking up the summer air – sitting in the quiet of the garden – allowing the hours to slowly slip by.

Who knows how long these longed for days will last – and so – I need to enjoy it all while I can – or – as someone else put it – “Enjoy the moment – and your place in it”

I love the sentiment of that quote – which not only encourages me to ‘enjoy the moment’ – but also – to ‘enjoy my place in it’ – or as someone else said – “Enjoy this moment – for this moment is your life”

Each moment is precious – and I am coming to recognise that more and more – every moment that I have – I want to cherish – to enjoy – to live in it – to see my place – in that moment – own it and to respond to it with gratitude.

I want to be present in each moment – immerse myself in – and be attentive to – my surroundings – giving full attention to where I am. And of course – this doesn’t only apply to the long lazy days – when I ‘chill out’ on my own – but also days that include others – giving full attention to them – being aware of their needs – as well as my own.

To put this in very simple terms – as this quote says – “Be where your feet are” -and that’s where I want to be – in that moment – embracing my place in it – and all that it holds for me.

So – today – I embrace another beautiful summers day – and enjoy the respectability of my laziness – for – this moment – is my life.
