‘When Wild Flowers Bloom’

One of the things that I love – as I walk through our village – is the sight of wild flowers growing – and I’m happy to say – that this is becoming a much more common sight.

I have already selected an area- on our property – on which I plan to grow wild flowers next year – and I can hardly wait.

Roadside verges now boast an abundance of wild flowers – due to the work of such organisations as – The Wildlife Trust – Plant Life – Butterfly Conservation – and Natural England – all of whom work with highways authorities – councils – and landowners – to advise and help manage road verges.

I so appreciate the work that is done – allowing – not only wildlife – but ourselves as well – to benefit and enjoy the beauty that is created.

This quote paints a beautiful picture for me – “I think I like wild flowers best – they just grow wherever they want – no one has to plant them – and then their seeds blow in the wind – and they find a new place to grow”

I love that thought – that ‘they grow wherever they want’ – and then -‘ as their seeds blow – they too find a new place to grow’.

It makes me think about my life – and my journey into allowing myself more freedom – to grow where I want to grow – but then – that wonderful thought – that ‘seeds’ can then blow from the blooms of my life – allowing more growth – and finding new places to grow too.

This description of a wildflower is inspiring to me – “Wildflowers – independent and unique – grow on their own – low in maintenance – high in beauty – they are free – they are wild – they are strong”

It’s something that I am beginning to own about myself – on my journey – at last being brave enough – to see who I truly am – to allow myself to break free from the belief – that to think well of myself is somehow a wrongful pride.

I want to be that wildflower – be proud to be independent and unique – brave enough to grow on my own – to see my beauty and to be truly free – and even wild – standing strong.

And – “like wildflowers – I want to allow myself to grow – in all the places people thought I never would” – for that is what it is to be free – to grow – and to flourish – wherever I choose.

Freeing myself from the expectations of others – not restricting myself – or being afraid of new surroundings – of unfamiliar places – but rather embracing the present – soaking up the sun – blowing in the wind – and finding myself thriving among others – who are allowing themselves to be wild and free.

I love this Native American proverb – and pass it on – as a blessing – “May your life be like a wildflower – growing freely in the beauty and joy of each day”

As I often comment – I so love the way God speaks through His wonderful creation – through the small – the ordinary – that I come across each day – just simple truths – that offer important lessons for me – that spur me on – encourage me – as I continue on this ever changing – often challenging – journey – that is my life.

Blessings – Lois
