‘The Fog Will Lift’

One thing I enjoy about early mornings at this time of year is the freshness in the air – bringing with it that sense of the beginning of a new season. fog 3The other morning really typified an Autumn morning for me – the thickened mist of the past few mornings – creating a fog that almost obliterated the view from my sight.

Of course it was a different fog from the ones of my childhood – those fogs that caught up with them all the smoke and pollution in the atmosphere -and prevented me from being able to see what lay just before me.

It can be scary – not being able to see what is in front of you. I recall driving in the dense fogs that we experienced all those years ago – hanging out of the window in order to see the edge of the road and guide the driver!

As I sat looking out onto an almost desolate landscape – I knew that I would not have to wait too long for that fog to lift – the sun was coming up and as it did – the fog seemed to become almost just a mist – and then – it disappeared altogether – allowing me to once more enjoy the vastness of the countryside around me.

fog 2So – my thoughts centre around the fog today- we so often experience something akin to that in life – when a fog seems to descend – blocking our ‘view’ it can be scary – there seems no way forward – and all we have to depend upon is our faith.

I’m so grateful for a strong faith in my life – that enables me to trust in One to guide me – and to believe that the fog will lift.

I’m reminded of a verse from scripture that speaks of faith as being – a hope in things not seen – that firm belief that although we may not be able to see the way ahead – we can trust in one who guides us – ‘puts His head out of the window’ – and shows us the way.

Although a fog may surround us and there may seem no way forward – the way ahead  hidden from view – the sun will shine again – that fog will disappear – and once again we will see our way forward.fog 4

Maybe you need someone to be alongside you – to ‘hang their head out of the window’ – to help you find the way forward – to guide you out of the fog – I pray you will know the presence of the One Who is always willing to walk with you and be your guide – and that you will also remember – the sun will shine – and that fog will lift.
